The Evolution of Fashion: The Last 100 Years

Image
The Evolution of Fashion: The Last 100 Years Fashion changes as time moves on. What might be trending now might seem old and distasteful in the future. Let's see the fashion styles of each decade and how they changed over the years. The Roaring Twenties: The icons of the 20s. Clara Bow. Coco Chanel. Zelda Fritzgerald. This decade is known for cultural and social changes. Let's see how this is portrayed through fashion.  Bobs were THE hairstyle. A dancer who cut her hair for surgery, kept her hair ear length. That soon caught on and everyone was wearing it.  The Flapper Style. “Flapper” was used to describe women who craved independence and defied the traditional norms. These women contributed to the cultural changes by showing independence and resistance to the norms at the time. In this era, the hemline of dresses was shorter, usually right below the knee. Now you might think, how is this defiant? However, at this time, this was considered scandalous. Weird, I know rig...

Image
Shein, a popular fast fashion company, steals designs from other brands. Small businesses having their designs stolen Shein is a fast fashion company that is known to sell clothes for very cheap. I myself have bought from Shein because of how low the prices are. However, did you know that Shein copies designs from other small businesses? Small businesses have difficulty advocating for themselves and they have to watch their designs become stolen and put at a lower price, which is honestly disrespectful. They spend many hours working diligently on the products, just for big companies like Shein to copy them.  Last year, it’s estimated that Shein’s net sales reached $48 billion dollars.
